The School of Mathematics and Information Science currently has a staff of 76, including 8 professors and 26 associate professors. Among them, 49 teachers hold doctorates. The school boasts 1 provincial teaching master, 4 academic and technological leaders recognized by the Henan Provincial Education Department, 8 young key teachers from Henan provincial higher education institutions, 1 specially appointed professor at the university level, 1 council member of the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, 1 deputy director of the Henan Digital Graphics and Image Society, 2 standing directors, and 1 council member of the Henan Mathematical Society.
The school offers three undergraduate majors: Information and Computing Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Data Computing and Applications. It also holds a master's degree authorization point for Applied Statistics and a second-tier master's degree program in the Mathematical Theory and Technology of Complex Systems. Additionally, the school enrolls students for the professional master's degree in Electronic Information (Control Engineering, Artificial Intelligence). The school is home to the ninth batch of provincial key disciplines in Applied Mathematics and the new round of key disciplines in Applied Statistics designated by Henan Province. It also boasts the Zhengzhou Key Laboratory of Image Processing and Optoelectronic Information Technology.
In recent years, teachers from the school have presided over or undertaken 46 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and over 60 research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level. The research funding in the past three years has amounted to over 25 million yuan. The school has won 2 second prizes for scientific and technological progress in Henan Province, 1 second prize for scientific and technological progress awarded by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, 1 United Nations Gold Award, and 1 first prize for teaching achievements in Henan Province. In recent years, the school's teachers have published over 800 academic papers in domestic and international journals, with more than 480 of them being indexed by SCI, EI, or ISTP, including 7 ESI highly cited papers. The school has also been granted 25 invention patents and has edited or contributed to over 50 textbooks or monographs.
